Favours
In some cultures, it is traditional for the guests at celebrations to receive small gifts as a token of gratitude for their attendance. In western societies, these occasions include weddings, baby showers, christenings, birthdays and other happy events. These gifts are called party favours, which doesn't mean that the hosts help you move or lend you their car. Typically, they include sweets, bonbonnieres, candles, glassware, and other small souvenirs, usually customised or inscribed to mark the occasion.
You might be familiar with the concept from you childhood. It is quite common to give out party bags at kids' birthdays. These include items such as lollies, small toys, and party poppers. This concept has carried forward into adulthood, primarily for important life milestones.
Weddings
Weddings are the most common event where favours are given out, since it is such an important part of someone's life. To commemorate the occasion, newlyweds give guests elegant and memorable souvenirs. Common favours include photo frames and place cards. On the other hand, they can also be more personal and unique. Small trinkets or utensils, for example bottle openers, give an eccentric and special vibe to the occasion.
Birthdays
Birthday celebrants often give out party favours at milestone age celebrations. However, they would be a great fit at any birthday event, from small family gatherings to extravagant parties. Birthday souvenirs are normally inscribed with the person's name, date of birth, and the age that they are celebrating.
Other Events
Baby showers, christenings, and other life events use the same concepts. Favours are a way to make every event memorable, and to have something to remember it by. As well as this, it's a way to thank your guests for not only coming to the event, but for being a part of your life.
